editor's note

episteme Issue 12 features collective reflections on teaching feminism and Asia at the present moment. The impulse behind this project was to assemble practical strategies and notes from our classrooms in a time when the institutional and intellectual conditions for our work are under siege. Asian feminist pedagogies are not defined by established methods or by historical practices attributed to subjects identified as Asian and/or feminist. Rather, they function as a provocative conceptual constellation that encourages critical reflection on the teaching of gender and sexuality as shaped by—but not reducible to—the contexts, voices, and feminist genealogies associated with Asia.
